This was his last known work. Weeks after its completion, Nussbaum and his wife were arrested by the Wehrmacht.

Louis Raemaekers (1869-1956)

Louis Raemaekers was a Dutch painter and editorial cartoonist. He took a strong anti-German stance during WWI. This is one of his cartoons depicting the Dance of Death from the beginning of the war.

The German Tango – “From East to West and West to East, I dance with thee.”
